After 11 years of operating as a one-woman show, the Blessings in a Bag community is so excited to announce that we will be hiring for the first time! This role will not only be a special milestone for the organisation and the greater community, but will play a crucial role in leading us towards our larger-than-life visions and dreams.
COMMUNITY MANAGER AND OPERATIONS
WHAT WE STAND FOR:
Blessings in a Bag is a shared safe-space and a community of love and support for under-served and under-resourced children and youth (through our Beyond Awesome programming). We are a place to share ideas, build meaningful connections and community. We focus on three things. The first is cultivating a real sense of community and belonging.
The second is ensuring that the communities we curate online and offline are inclusive, inspiring and encouraging to everyone. And last, is in making sure that we see love as a superpower - tangible, experienced and celebrated.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a purpose-driven, compassionate and organized leader who will collaborate with our Chief of Awesome and key partners to create a thriving and sustainable organization during an exciting period of change. This role will play a crucial part of Blessings in a Bag to in maintaining and growing a vibrant, diverse and connected community – for our mentors, youths and community partners. The role will oversee the day to day operations covering:
Leading our community of volunteers – onboarding, mentoring and developing our passionate community through curated meet ups, events and projects.
Steering the co-creation of sessions –organizing and developing content that is growth focused and inspiring for our students.
Supporting Marketing and Organisation Development – creatively driving interest and awareness to our core purpose.
Owning our space – ensuring our space is well stocked, maintained, safe and secure at all times.
Powering the Administration – updating our databases and responding to our email queries with love.
The superpowers you will have:
An established self care routine and re-energises well and regularly
Experience with recruiting, training and on-boarding community youth, professionals and/or volunteers
Cultivating our community’s culture of collaboration, encouragement and optimism
Adept at developing communications and content
Taking ownership and you won’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves
Excellent time management, ability to multi-task, prioritise and work in an organized manner
A people person and team player, someone who is positive, approachable and thrives off the energy of others
Excited by change, challenges and finding solutions to drive the best outcomes
A confident communicator with a natural way of speaking to people and know how to make everyone feel welcome
Comfortable with technology, particularly online tools for managing contacts and project planning/organization
Evening and weekend work may be required.
